$60,000 per year About the Organization We are working with a growing construction-related organization in Columbia, Tennessee , specializing in products and services supporting commercial and residential construction projects. The organization works closely with contractors, suppliers, project teams, and customers to deliver quality building solutions while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, service, and timely project execution. As the organization continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced Estimator to join their team and contribute to the preparation and management of competitive project bids and estimates. Position Overview The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, performing detailed quantity and material takeoffs, calculating labor and material requirements, obtaining supplier pricing, and preparing accurate and competitive estimates and proposals. The ideal candidate will have strong construction estimating experience, blueprint-reading skills, and knowledge of construction materials and installation processes . Experience with glass, glazing, architectural products, or related construction trades is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Review drawings, blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine project scope. Perform detailed material and quantity takeoffs. Calculate material, labor, equipment, and other project costs. Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. Prepare detailed estimates, bids, proposals, and cost summaries. Identify scope gaps, exclusions, discrepancies, and potential project risks. Update estimates based on drawing revisions, change orders, and scope modifications. Maintain organized bid records and estimating documentation. Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, vendors, and internal teams. Communicate with customers and project stakeholders to clarify project requirements. Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and submitted within required deadlines. Manage multiple estimating assignments and prioritize bids according to deadlines. Required Qualifications 5+ years of construction experience. 5+ years of construction estimating experience. 5+ years of blueprint/drawing reading experience. Strong understanding of construction materials, labor requirements, and installation processes. Experience performing material takeoffs and developing project costs. Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and estimating/job-costing software. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with project managers, vendors, field teams, and customers. High school diploma or equivalent required; construction-related technical training is a plus. Preferred Qualifications Experience with glass, glazing, architectural products, building materials, or related construction trades . Experience estimating residential and/or commercial construction projects. Familiarity with supplier pricing, procurement, and project bidding processes. Work Environment Full-time, onsite position in Columbia, TN . Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to manage multiple projects and bid deadlines. Recruiting Priority:
Candidates with strong construction estimating + blueprint reading experience should be prioritized. Candidates with glass/glazing or closely related construction trade experience are strongly preferred.
