Job Description

Estimator This is a full-time, in-office position based in Greenbrier, TN, with regular travel to jobsites throughout the Middle Tennessee market. Crown Paving, an asphalt paving and concrete contractor operating in Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida, is looking for an Estimator to focus on bidding and managing maintenance projects in commercial parking lots, municipal streets, and residential developments. The successful candidate will be based in our Greenbrier, TN office and will be required to travel throughout the Middle Tennessee market from time to time to review jobsites. This position is responsible for full-cycle estimating, customer relationships, and project management activities from initial solicitation through final project closeout.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
  • Read bid specifications/scopes of work, review drawings, and understand contractual terms and conditions to compile accurate cost data for asphalt and concrete estimates.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and visit jobsites to obtain data and assess site conditions and specialized scopes of work.
  • Respond to leads and develop opportunities through estimating, follow-up, and customer communication.
  • Perform takeoffs and prepare detailed, organized, and accurate estimates for unit-priced, lump-sum, and negotiated project opportunities within established deadlines.
  • Work with vendors and subcontractors to secure quotations; analyze and coordinate quotes to ensure contract compliance, accuracy, and best overall value.
  • Review bids with the Senior Estimator prior to submission.
  • Prepare proposals within the Company's estimating software, including detailed scopes of work, exclusions, and clarifications.
  • Assist with customer communication and relationship management throughout the estimating and project process.
  • Manage invoicing and progress billing responsibilities.
  • Perform job costing and assist with project budget management and tracking.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and track opportunities through the Company's estimating/project management software.
  • Assist with project management activities following award, including working closely with the Superintendent, scheduling subcontractors, coordinating project needs, and providing field photos and other documentation as necessary.
  • Assist with project closeout and ensure required documentation and billing are completed. Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in asphalt paving, concrete, or a related field.
  • Experience with asphalt and/or concrete estimating and takeoffs preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with PlanSwift or similar estimating/takeoff software.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to jobsites throughout the Middle Tennessee market.
  • Ability to safely navigate active construction jobsites and work in varying outdoor conditions.
