Job Summary The CMT & Geotechnical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals for geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing (CMT), special inspections, environmental, and related consulting services. This role reviews project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and client requirements to determine project scope, staffing needs, laboratory testing requirements, equipment utilization, and overall project costs. The Estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, technicians, and business development personnel to develop competitive and profitable proposals. Requirements:
Job Responsibilities Review project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents. Analyze project requirements for geotechnical investigations, laboratory testing, field testing, and special inspections. Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and fee proposals for public and private sector projects. Calculate labor, equipment, laboratory testing, drilling, sampling, and subcontractor costs. Coordinate with drilling contractors, laboratories, and specialty subcontractors to obtain pricing. Develop scopes of work and proposal documents based on client requirements. Evaluate project risks, assumptions, and contingencies affecting project costs. Maintain estimating databases, historical cost records, and pricing information. Collaborate with project managers and engineers during proposal development and project handoff. Assist with contract review, change orders, and project cost tracking. Support business development efforts by responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and bid opportunities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in estimating, geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, project management, or construction services. Knowledge of soil investigations, drilling operations, laboratory testing procedures, and construction inspection services. Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and construction documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software applications. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with geotechnical consulting, CMT services, special inspections, or civil engineering projects. Understanding of applicable industry standards such as those published by ASTM International, American Concrete Institute, and International Code Council. Experience preparing estimates for transportation, commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects. Familiarity with drilling and sampling methods, laboratory testing programs, and construction inspection requirements. Exceptional problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Understanding of construction methods, regulations, and safety practices. Attention to detail. Strong teamwork, communication, multitasking, and organizational skills. Basic computer skills such as Word and Excel. Clean MVR, background, and drug screening. Valid driver's license.
