Job Description

Total Safety is looking for a Fire Protection Estimator to join their safety conscious team! The Fire Protection Estimator prepares estimates and proposals for fire protection systems including fire sprinklers, fire alarm, gaseous agent suppression, detection, and air breathing systems. Essential Duties:
Prepare detailed material, labor, design, and equipment cost estimates in response to RFP, RFQ or customer request. Provide written scope of services in response to RFP, RFQ, or customer request. Thoroughly review and understand requirements from project and customer documents to reduce risk and capture all costs. Perform job walks to determine scope and method of installation/ repair. Provide customer and in house technical support to sales personnel on mechanical and electrical fire protection systems. Attend meetings with and without sales personnel at customer locations. Prepare other documents as needed. Communicate with internal & external customers.
Skills and Experience:
3+ years' experience in fire protection, mechanical and or electrical systems installations preferably in industrial settings. High School Diploma required. NICET certification a plus. Knowledge of project costing methods Ability to read plans and develop estimates from detailed packages and develop estimates from minimal information, Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to act in a sale capacity. Ability to communicate across all levels of internal and external organizations. Ability to use various computer programs including all versions of MS Office. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality. Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, and construction documents. Ability to conduct surveys and understand existing conditions. Ability to read and understand contract documents. Ability to teach and train others.
