As an estimator/salesman, you will assess bid requirements and technical drawings, participate in pre-bid meetings, and collaborate closely with your team to ensure accurate bids. We are looking for an experienced and talented electrical estimator/salesman who has a strong background and knowledge in electrical systems. He/she should have excellent communication & sales skills with the ability to cultivate and build lasting relationships with customers, clients, vendors, and general contractors. Your primary goal is to drive revenue, boost profitability and effectively oversee costs. Analyze proposals and requirements to produce accurate electrical estimates for commercial and industrial projects. Attend team meetings to fully understand project scope and requirements to provide accurate bids/estimates. Conduct job/site walkthroughs and meetings with general contractors and customers at project sites. Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors by locating, notifying, and providing bid information for outsourced work quotations. Complete estimated takeoffs and change orders within specified time deadlines using computer estimating tools. Collaborate with other supervisors, foremen, and Project Managers throughout the estimating process and the duration of the project. Evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids for completeness, schedule adherence, specification compliance, and other bid requirements. Anticipate estimating requirements with limited information available. Follow up consistently with customers for feedback on bids/proposals and report results to management. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards, reporting any discrepancies to the Chief Estimator. Essential Skills, Abilities and Qualifications Hands on knowledge as a journeyman/leadman in electrical and/or low voltage work is a plus. Knowledgeable of the NEC and local codes. Accustomed to estimating/quoting projects of various values. Proficiency in reviewing/reading construction plans and blueprints. Excellent communication skills with customers, vendors, subcontractors, general contractors, and owners. Ability to multitask and stay organized with multiple complex projects at once. Proficiency in Computer skills and familiarity with navigating a desktop. General Knowledge Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word) and comfortable with spreadsheets and computerized on-screen takeoff programs. Extensive knowledge with estimating and bidding software, as in: Plan Swift, EBM, D-Tools, Procore, Building Connect, etc. Education & Experience
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Any relevant training/licenses/certificates
- At least 5+ years of electrical field experience as a journeyman/leadman electrician a plus.
- At least 3+ years of estimating residential a plus.
- At least 5 years of sales experience a plus.
