Job Description

What You Will Do As an Estimator, you will analyze drawings, specifications, RFPs, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material quotes, direct costs, and labor estimates for projects and services. A Typical Day at Prime Controls Preconstruction engineering review and assessment of plans and specifications. Review customer information to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists. Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness. Use Estimating tools to develop quotes. Update pricing database from quotes received on each bid to maintain current pricing. Consult with clients, vendors, and internal resources to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Participate in pre-submittal job walks and meetings to substantiate labor estimates and review material costs. Organize and manage a process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized. Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies. Provide cost estimates and proposals for change orders, typically needed within one day. Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs. Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts. What You Will Bring Experienced knowledge of Water/Wastewater facilities Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings Ability to provide a take-off of P&IDs for process and mechanical systems Knowledge of PLC and/or DCS Systems Knowledge of Instrumentation and Control Valve Products Experience in developing complex estimates from 30%, 60%, and 90% design status Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines Advanced Proficiency in Excel. Proficient in other Microsoft Office applications. Proficient in pdf applications such as Bluebeam and Adobe. Engineering Degree or Related Work Experience
