Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our growing construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical systems on a variety of commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Your expertise will help ensure project budgets are realistic, competitive, and aligned with client expectations. Responsibilities Review construction drawings, electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications to develop comprehensive project estimates. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and other digital tools to prepare detailed cost proposals for electrical systems. Perform material cost estimating and evaluate electrical building codes like NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 to ensure compliance in all estimates. Conduct thorough construction drawing reviews to identify potential challenges and opportunities for cost savings. Manage project budgets by accurately pricing electrical components, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and design teams to refine estimates and align on scope and expectations. Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to support cost control initiatives and ensure adherence to budgets. Maintain detailed records of all estimating activities, contracts, and correspondence for transparency and future reference. Stay current with industry standards such as electrical systems, building codes, NFPA 70 compliance requirements, and construction management best practices. Experience Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry or related fields. Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and construction drawings. Familiarity with estimating software including HeavyBid or equivalent tools; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential. Demonstrated ability in negotiation, cost management, material pricing, and contract review processes. Experience working on construction site projects with an understanding of construction management principles. Knowledge of electrical codes such as NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 standards is required. Prior construction experience combined with excellent client communication skills enhances success in this role. Ability to interpret electrical blueprints accurately while assessing project scope for accurate budgeting.
