The ideal candidate will have strong experience estimating underground utility projects, including water, sewer, storm drainage, and site utility construction. This position is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project plans and specifications, and supporting successful project bidding efforts.
RESPONSABILITIES
Review plans, specifications, and bid documents for underground utility projects. Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates. Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments to obtain and evaluate pricing, quotations, schedules, and project-related information. Develop bid proposals and pricing strategies. Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options. Manage bid calendar and prioritize pursuit pipeline. Coordinate with leadership during the bidding process. Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information. Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required. Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within deadlines. Thrive in a high-pressure environment, manage multiple bids simultaneously, and consistently deliver accurate, competitive estimates under tight deadlines. Prioritize effectively, respond quickly to changing bid requirements, and maintain attention to detail while meeting aggressive submission schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of estimating experience in underground utilities, civil construction, or related fields. Strong knowledge of water, sewer, storm drain, and excavation construction methods. Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and contracts. Bilingual - English and Spanish (speak, read, write). Experience with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek, B2W, Bluebeam, or similar platforms. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience estimating public and private projects in Texas including familiarity with municipal bidding process. Knowledge of municipal utility construction and local agency requirements. Civil construction or engineering background. Prior field experience as a foreman, superintendent, or project manager.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Competitive salary based on experience. Performance-based bonuses.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
