Sr. Estimator

A well-established heavy civil general contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to play a key role in securing new private and public work. This position is responsible for leading estimating strategy, overseeing detailed takeoffs, and producing accurate and competitive bids across a wide range of heavy civil projects.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical estimating experience, the ability to lead bid efforts, and a clear understanding of how to communicate cost assumptions, execution strategies, and project risks throughout the bid process.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and evaluate prospective projects to determine bid viability and pursuit strategyLead and participate in estimating strategy and bid planning meetingsPerform and oversee detailed quantity takeoffs and scope reviewsPrepare and manage estimates using HCSS and supporting takeoff spreadsheetsDevelop cost analyses including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overheadReview construction documents to fully understand project scope and efficienciesAttend pre bid meetings and site visits as requiredMaintain accurate notes and documentation from pre bid meetings and site walksExplain estimate assumptions, manpower projections, and production ratesMaintain estimating databases and historical cost informationEvaluate alternative construction methods to identify cost effective solutionsCoordinate with project managers and operations teams during preconstructionLead bid reviews and final pricing decisionsManage subcontractor outreach, scope review, negotiations, and contract executionMaintain professionalism and integrity throughout the bidding processOther duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience10+ years of experience as a Lead or Senior EstimatorExperience in estimating projects ranging from 1M to 25M plusHeavy civil estimating background, including:

Site preparation and earthworkMass and structural excavationUnderground utilities and stormwater systemsRoadway, paving, and structural concrete workProficiency with HCSS, Bluebeam, and Office 365 requiredStrong analytical, communication, and leadership skillsAbility to manage changing priorities and deadlinesBenefitsSalary $130-170k baseAnnual bonusMedical, Dental, Vision401k w/ matchProfit sharingVehicle allowancePTOHoliday pay
