Job Description

Position Summary The Estimator is responsible for reviewing plans, specifications, and project requirements to prepare accurate and competitive bid proposals for commercial glazing projects. Core Responsibilities Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents thoroughly. Perform quantity takeoffs for storefront, curtain wall, doors, hardware, glass, and specialty systems. Solicit and compare vendor and supplier pricing. Prepare accurate project estimates using company pricing standards. Identify scope gaps, exclusions, clarifications, and risk items. Submit bids before deadlines with complete documentation. Coordinate with project management and fabrication teams. Vendor & Supplier Coordination Maintain strong supplier and manufacturer relationships. Verify material availability and lead times. Negotiate pricing where possible to improve profitability. Project Turnover Assist in turnover meetings for awarded projects. Provide complete estimating notes and clarifications to project management. Help ensure smooth transition from estimating to operations. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Estimate accuracy compared to actual project costs. Gross profit margin performance on awarded projects. Bid-to-award ratio. On-time bid submission rate. Organization and completeness of estimating files. Communication effectiveness with vendors and internal staff. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience in commercial glazing estimating preferred. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong math and analytical skills. Knowledge of storefront, curtain wall, doors, glass, and hardware systems.
