Our firm is partnered with one of the nation's most respected heavy civil contractors to identify a Chief Estimator for its growing Salt Lake City operation. The Opportunity The Chief Estimator will lead major pursuits across a diverse heavy civil portfolio, including: Heavy highway and roadway construction Mass earthwork and grading Underground utilities Bridges and structures Paving and civil infrastructure DOT and public works projects This is a senior leadership role with significant influence over work acquisition, estimating strategy, risk, team development, and continued growth throughout the region. What You'll Be Doing Lead estimating and preconstruction efforts for large, complex heavy civil projects Develop bid strategies, pricing, production assumptions, and risk assessments Oversee quantity takeoffs, cost models, subcontractor pricing, and final bid reviews Lead and mentor Senior Estimators, Estimators, and support staff Partner closely with operations to ensure estimates reflect real-world constructability and production Support alternative delivery, value engineering, and major pursuit strategy Build relationships with owners, DOT agencies, subcontractors, and vendors Help drive backlog and long-term market growth throughout Utah and the surrounding region What We're Looking For 10+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience Strong estimating background in heavy highway, earthwork, underground utilities, structures and/or paving Experience leading large and complex estimates Strong knowledge of production rates, cost structures, risk, and constructability Proven ability to lead and develop estimating teams DOT/public agency experience strongly preferred Alternative delivery experience is a plus Strong communication and executive-level presentation skills Compensation & Benefits $175K
