Lead Technical Planner StructuralREPORTS TO
Structural Engineering and Planning Manager SUMMARY Works with Technical Planning and Engineering team to develop work plans and technical work instruction packages for production/execution teams and forecasts labor and material costs for all projects based on analyses of project specifications, pricing schedules, and historical data.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Planning Conduct Structural Inspections Obtain IMIA structural inspector certification Identify, document and report deficiencies found onboard vessels Work with production team to develop work plan Develop work packages for production use Review work specification to develop work instructions for trades use Interpret NAVSEA and customer drawings, standards and specifications Determine Objective Quality Evidence requirements Material Planning Develop Job Material List from technical references and drawings Determine material sizes and quantities required Resolve technical specification conflicts or suitable substitutes Assist purchasing with finding appropriate vendors Estimating Gather job details and compile data to estimate production and material cost Review drawings, specifications, proposals and other documentation to support cost estimates Consider raw materials, labor, equipment, and transportation for estimate Assist in determining necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budget constraints Review estimates as requested and analyzes established standards for cost reduction Other duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
No formal supervisory responsibilities.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to perform shipchecks, shipboard and in confined spaces Ability to read and interpret technical drawings; focus on mechanical, structural and weld configuration drawings Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and government publications and standards for specifications and manuals Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry Knowledge of production management, logistics, and supply chain concepts and methodologies Proficient with MicroSoft Office suite of products and associated software applications Excellent analytical and organizational skills Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checkEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate degree or equivalent work experience Minimum five (5) years experience in shipyard production environment, preferably in US Navy repair or new construction shipyards.WORKING CONDITIONS
Most work performed remotely under pressured, fast-paced conditions; frequently requires overtime May require some travel Minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heightsEQUIPMENT USED
