Job Description
Prepares bids and written proposals based upon specifications provided directly by the customer and/or from the Business Development Managers. This position requires the ability to handle multiple tasks to meet customer-mandated time schedules. Assists in the bids and proposals process to estimate costs and prepares detailed written proposals and compliance matrices. Determines material quantities and labor required for total job cost. This is accomplished using tables and data established within the department and obtaining quotations from suppliers and/or subcontractors. Works with Purchasing to maintain accurate material costs on the shelter bid forms. Works with Human Resources to maintain accurate labor costs on the shelter bid summary sheet. Assists the Business Development Managers with follow-up by phone on previous quotations submitted to the customer. Checks and confirms that customer specifications and purchase orders are in acknowledgement of written proposals. Performs other tasks as required by the Bids and Proposals Manager or Lead Estimator. Must have excellent written and organizational skills. Must have the ability to multi-task. Must have a high degree of professionalism and the ability to hold confidential information. Knowledge of construction and/or electrical experience. One year certificate or associate degree 1 - 5 years of estimating experience
