Job Description

Estimator / Sales Position We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator / Sales Professional to join our construction team. This role combines the technical expertise of construction estimating with the proactive approach of sales, enabling you to develop accurate initial projects bis while fostering strong relationships with clients and industry professionals. You will be tasked with preparing precise insurance and private remodel estimates, securing contracts / material selections from customers, communicating effectively with clients and internal teams to ensure a project's success from start to finish.   • Report and work from the VBS Downtown Roanoke office for a minimum of 40 hours per week to be considered full time / salary.
  • Utilize Xactimate estimating software to prepare and present detailed project estimates.
  • Manage the sales, materials selection, and collections side of the multiple projects you contract simultaneously by updating estimates for supplemental purposes (insurance related) and/or private change orders, then ensuring alignment with the project scope to the production team.
  • Traveling in and around a 75 mile radius from the Roanoke area to inspect and meet on-site with clients in their homes
  • At times you will be charged with negotiating with adjusters, subcontractors, and clients to secure favorable pricing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the on-site VBS project managers and our clients, to clarify project requirements and set reasonable expectations.
  • Once the project is complete it will be your responsibility to provide an accurate statement and collect the balance in full.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to understand their needs, present estimates confidently, keep up with supplements / change orders, invoice accordingly
  • Foster ongoing relationships with insurance carrier personnel for future business opportunities.
Experience Proven experience in insurance restoration and private remodeling (additions, kitchens, baths, decks, etc.) construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction industry practices is preferred. Proficiency estimating in Xactimate software and/or similar tools is essential. Solid knowledge of construction management software platforms (Company Cam) combined with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for data analysis and reporting. Experience managing projects form the sales / collections side from initial bid through project completion is desirable. Strong negotiation skills paired with excellent client communication abilities to build trust and secure profitable contracts. Familiarity with contracts, changes orders and statements / invoices Construction site experience or hands-on familiarity with construction processes will be considered an asset.
