The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates, reviewing plans and specifications, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors, and supporting the preconstruction process from initial bid through project award.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed estimates for commercial construction projects across all trades and scopes of work.
Review construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project scopes.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals.
Ensure estimates include all required scopes and identify potential gaps, exclusions, and risks.
Develop competitive bids and proposals within required deadlines.
Conduct site visits and participate in pre-bid meetings as needed.
Work closely with project managers, operations teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Assist with value engineering and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and profitability before submission.
Maintain accurate estimating records, historical cost data, and pricing information.
Manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
Required Qualifications5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
Strong estimating experience covering all aspects of commercial construction, not limited to a single trade or specialty.
Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing.
Experience with construction drawings, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimating.
Ability to independently develop complete project estimates from plans and specifications.
Strong ability to evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software.
Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and estimates under tight deadlines.
Construction-related education or equivalent industry experience preferred.
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a well-rounded commercial construction estimator who understands the complete project scope and can estimate across multiple trades and disciplines. Candidates whose experience is limited primarily to one specific trade are not the target profile.
