Position Overview As a Lead Estimator - Industrial Electrical , you will provide leadership and technical direction for the estimating function, supporting complex industrial electrical and power infrastructure projects . You will oversee the full estimating lifecycle—from bid strategy and takeoffs to pricing, subcontractor engagement, and final proposal development —while mentoring junior estimators and partnering closely with operations, project management, and executive leadership. This role is ideal for an experienced estimator who thrives in a leadership capacity , enjoys solving complex cost challenges, and brings a strong understanding of industrial electrical construction methods and medium‑voltage systems . Key Responsibilities Lead preparation of detailed, competitive estimates and bid proposals for industrial electrical projects Manage and mentor estimating team members , providing guidance, oversight, and quality control Perform and review quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, and pricing strategies Develop and validate project schedules, production rates, and cost forecasts Conduct site visits and pre‑bid reviews to assess constructability, logistics, and risk Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing Partner with Project Managers, Engineers, and Operations leaders to align estimates with execution strategies Identify scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities Participate in client interactions, bid presentations, and contract negotiations Support project turnover and handoff to execution teams upon award Why Michels Power, Inc.? What It Takes 10+ years of experience in electrical estimating, industrial construction, or related fields Proven experience leading or mentoring estimating teams or complex bids Strong background in industrial electrical or utility construction projects Experience with contract review, risk analysis, and subcontractor negotiations Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and AccuBid Anywhere Strong analytical, organizational, and decision‑making skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Desired Qualifications Hands‑on field experience in the electrical trade Prior experience estimating industrial, power, or EPC electrical projects Strong understanding of: Electrical installation methods and constructability Medium‑voltage systems and equipment Construction sequencing and labor productivity Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and IBC codes and standards Ability to interpret and optimize construction drawings, schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams Join a company that powers progress.
