Full Job Description About Horizon Retail Construction:
Horizon Retail Construction is a nationally recognized general contractor specializing in tenant improvement. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and driven Estimator to join the team at our corporate headquarters. Headquartered in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, we take pride in delivering quality projects, building strong relationships, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed quality take-offs and cost estimates across all CSI divisions. Analyze construction documents, plans, and specifications to determine project scope and requirements. Review invitations to bid (ITBs), identify trade-specific needs, and ensure complete bid coverage. Issue and track Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify design intent and scope discrepancies. Evaluate and qualify subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure scope completeness and cost accuracy. Coordinate and attend pre-bid site visits or arrange site surveys with field personnel when necessary. Review and incorporate design revisions and addendum into the bid process. Collaborate with project managers to satisfy client expectations. Maintain and update bid templates and historical data to ensure consistent estimating practices. Collaborate with Project Coordinator to ensure timely and effective subcontractor solicitation and documentation. Submit bids accurately and on schedule using each client's preferred delivery method (e.g., email, portals).
Summary of Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's degree (May be currently pursuing a degree or have 3-5 years relevant experience). Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Construction-related or estimating experience Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications. Experience with BlueBeam, OnScreen Takeoff, or similar. Previous customer service or subcontractor coordination experience. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
