Tile Installer / Tile Setter

Position Overview California Tile & Stone specializes in luxury residential tile and stone installations for upscale homes and estates throughout the Bay Area. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Tile Installer / Tile Setter to join our installation crews. This is a skilled trade position focused exclusively on high-end residential projects. You will install premium tile, large-format porcelain, natural stone, and engineered materials in kitchens, bathrooms, showers, floors, pools and feature walls. Key Responsibilities Install high-end tile and stone (porcelain, marble, granite, quartzite, large-format tiles) on floors, walls, showers, countertops, and custom features Perform precise layouts, dry-fitting, and pattern alignment for aesthetic perfection Cut and shape tile/stone using wet saws, rail saws, and hand tools as needed Mix and apply thin set, mortar, and grout to manufacturer specifications Execute professional grouting, cleaning, sealing, and final polishing Check and verify all materials daily upon arrival at the job site (tile, stone, thinset, grout, trim, etc.) for correct quantity, quality, and condition; immediately report any shortages, damage, defects, or missing items to the Project Manager to prevent delays Work efficiently with large-format and heavy materials using proper lifting techniques and team support Protect and care for client homes and finishes throughout the installation process Train and mentor Tile Helpers on proper installation techniques and safety standards Maintain a clean and organized job site from start to finish Follow all OSHA safety rules and company quality protocols at all times Communicate professionally with homeowners, designers, project managers, and the office team Perform professional waterproofing of shower pans using

CIM 1061

(or approved equivalent) according to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices Ensure every installation has a 100% waterproof substrate through proper surface preparation, application of waterproofing membranes, and thorough quality checks before any tile or stone is installed Performance Standards We evaluate all installers on these standards.
