About Peacock Floors Peacock Floors is a 45 year family owned flooring company based in San Francisco. We deliver commercial flooring installations for general contractors, property managers, and design teams across the Bay Area. We are LBE certified and we keep a steady pipeline of commercial work year round. We are hiring experienced commercial flooring installers who want a steady home with a clear path to lead installer. Job Summary We are hiring an experienced commercial installer whose core craft is commercial LVT, coved vinyl sheet, and heat welded seams. Most of our work is large LVT pulls and resilient sheet in healthcare, education, senior living, and tenant improvement. You will run jobs from prep to final walkthrough and deliver finished work to commercial spec. Core Skills We Are Hiring For These are the skills we need most. Please call them out in your application. Commercial LVT installation, including large quantity pulls and tight schedules. Coved vinyl sheet, including flash cove base, inside and outside corners, and capped top. Heat welded seams on vinyl sheet and welded LVT, including groove routing, rod welding, and skive trim to a flush finish.
Strong secondary skills:
High volume LVT layouts, planning starting lines, and managing waste across thousands of square feet. Pattern matching across plank, tile, and sheet goods, including directional patterns and quarter turn layouts. Double stick installation for broadloom and cushion backed goods over commercial pad. Key ResponsibilitiesSite Preparation Remove and dispose of existing flooring. Clean substrates and address moisture, cracks, and high spots. Apply patch and self leveling compounds to meet flatness requirements. LVT Installation Lay out and install commercial LVT plank and tile to spec, including large quantity rooms and floors. Manage starting lines, racking patterns, and seam direction to minimize waste and visible joints. Double stick where required and follow manufacturer adhesive and roll out specs. Coved Vinyl and Heat Welding Install commercial vinyl sheet with flash cove base, including inside and outside corners and capped top. Template, cut, and fit sheet goods around fixtures, drains, and casework. Groove rout seams, install weld rod, and skive to a flush finish on vinyl sheet and welded LVT. General Installation Use the correct adhesives, fasteners, and tools for each product. Hand cut and template around fixtures, columns, and irregular layouts. Pattern match plank, tile, and sheet goods, including directional and quarter turn layouts. Plan Reading Read architectural drawings, finish schedules, and product spec sheets. Determine layout, seam placement, transitions, and material quantities in the field. Flag field conditions that conflict with the plans before they become a problem. Finishing Install base, transitions, reducers, and trim. Apply sealants and grout where required. Complete punch list items to commercial specification. Quality and Safety Inspect finished work for gaps, lippage, telegraphing, and other defects. Repair as needed. Follow site safety protocols on active construction sites. Wear required PPE including respiratory and eye protection. Communication Coordinate professionally with general contractors, superintendents, and clients on site. Keep work areas clean and organized at all times. Report daily progress to the project lead. Required Qualifications 2 or more years of commercial flooring installation experience. Proven commercial LVT experience, including large quantity jobs. Proven coved vinyl sheet experience, including flash cove base and corners. Heat welding experience on vinyl sheet or welded LVT, including groove routing and skiving. Comfortable with pattern matching and double stick installations. Ability to read floor plans and finish schedules. Proficient with installation tools including groover, heat welder, skiving tools, power stretchers, seam irons, tile cutters, and power saws. Strong basic math for measuring, layout, and material estimation. Physical stamina to lift 50 plus pounds, kneel for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks. High school diploma or GED. Valid driver license and reliable transportation to job sites across the Bay Area. Own basic hand tools. Preferred Qualifications Commercial carpet tile and broadloom experience. Hardwood and epoxy coating experience. Experience on prevailing wage or union job sites. Ability to lead a small crew on site. Bilingual English and Spanish.
