In this role, you will coordinate daily operations on-site, manage skilled teams, ensure safety compliance, and deliver high-quality results efficiently. Your expertise in glazing and commercial construction will drive project success while maintaining a positive team environment. Candidates must have the personal hand tools customary for the trade and be able to report reliably to assigned jobsites throughout Southern California.
Job Overview:
The position holder requires knowledge and experience installing general glass and glazing systems including but not limited to curtain wall, storefront, window wall, punched window, point supported, glass railing, folding, swing and sliding door with hardware. Duties may vary job-to-job and will involve working on different types of building glazing systems, and occasionally metal panels. On the job training in metal panels will be provided if needed. Your involvement will be from pre-construction meetings through completion of final punch list along with the occasional warranty work. You must follow the company's safety policies and procedures. Work schedule and hours will vary depending on the jobsite requirements and jobsite location. The standard work schedule will be Monday through Friday. Overtime and some weekend work may be required from time to time on an as needed basis. Responsibilities will include planning, scheduling, and coordinating onsite activities, field change order execution, labor, material and equipment budgeting, multi-trade coordination, field measuring / layout, and hands on installation. During gaps between projects, this position may be required to take up additional temporary responsibilities at the fabrication shop as business needs arise.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
: The position holder must be able to… Support and coordinate with project managers, field managers, and installation teams through a high level of communication. Coordinate field installation schedules and logistics for material delivery to site, and help ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of our clients. Lead and supervise glazing crews during the installation of glass, metal framing, and related fixtures on commercial or residential projects. Manage multiple field teams of 2-10 installers per project site. Install all types of glass and related products including replacement of glass in commercial buildings. Fabricate and install extruded aluminum framing for all types of curtain wall, storefront, and window wall systems. Measure, lay out, install and adjust all types of glazing, glass door and window systems. Once properly trained, successfully install cladding and associated work, including waterproofing, layout, flashing, and break-metal trims. Modify and/or fabricate on-site as needed. Successfully complete warranty or maintenance work as required. Apply structural sealants or caulking to ensure a weathertight seal. Read and interpret construction plans and shop drawings. Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization internally and externally on a daily basis. This includes Project Managers, General Contractors, Customers and other Trade Partners or Subcontractors. Perform the essential physical functions of a hands-on working foreman position, including safely operating equipment and properly setting up and using scaffolding. Safely lift up to 100 lbs and maneuver materials, tools, equipment, and other heavy objects associated with the trade. Safely work at heights and access work areas by ladder, scaffolding, and/or mechanical lift. Safely use tools associated with construction and glazing/metal panel installation including but not limited to measuring tapes, laser levels, drills, hammers, grinders, chop saws, screw guns, impact guns and glass lifting tools. Safely use equipment associated with construction and glazing installation including but not limited to forklifts, high reach equipment, glass manipulators. Identify safety-related issues and correct those issues, including helping ensure all members of the organization and its subcontractors meet internal safety policies and OSHA requirements. Conduct weekly tailgate safety meetings and document jobsite safety inspections on a regular basis as outlined on company IIPP. Supervise, teach, and guide assistant field personnel through the successful on-time completion of installation projects. Ensure the protection of the building, building contents, and company product/property from potential damage and/or theft. The company is not responsible for the theft of your personal tools. Conduct field measuring accurately and coordinate with design team on shop drawings. Review drawings for constructability prior to procurement or release to production. Walk the site and adjacent trades to identify any issues that may impede installation. Provide proper and timely information from the field to home office. Work closely with Project Managers and the Field Superintendent to complete projects per the project specifications and on time. Be adept at layout and properly sequencing the installation of a project. Properly complete Daily Field Reports. Successfully handle onsite issues, make decisions, solve problems, and create solutions. Must have the ability to be a proactive problem solver and successfully execute solutions. Maintain project sites and work areas in a neat and orderly fashion while working. Ensure your team cleans up daily at the end of each workday. Turn in all company paperwork including but not limited to, reimbursement receipts, timecards, daily field reports, safety meetings accurately and on-time. Be punctual. Work additional overtime hours and weekends as necessary. Work as a team and communicate well with others. Employ and display "lead by example" mentality. As the organization grows or slows, duties may be revised. Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. The selected candidate may be required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and, where permitted by law, a post-offer criminal background check. Because this position requires travel to multiple jobsites throughout Southern California, candidates must be able to report reliably to assigned project locations. If driving is required for assigned job duties, candidates must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record acceptable under the company's auto insurance requirements. Pay will range from $40.00 to $44.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include a company cost-shared medical plan, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid sick time.
