Independent Contractor Window Treatment Installer / Skilled Handyman Bumble Bee Blinds Brighton, MI / Southeast Michigan Independent Contractor (1099) | Project-Based About the Opportunity Bumble Bee Blinds is growing and expanding our network of independent installation contractors throughout Brighton, Livingston County, and surrounding Southeast Michigan communities. We are looking for reliable, skilled independent contractors interested in adding window treatment installation projects to their existing workload. Previous blind or shade installation experience is NOT required. We are happy to provide product-specific training to the right experienced tradesperson. This opportunity may be a great fit for someone with experience in: Handyman/home improvement work Finish carpentry Cabinet or closet installation Window and door installation Trim carpentry TV/AV mounting and installation Blinds, shades, shutters, or drapery Other residential installation or finish work This is particularly well suited for an established tradesperson or independent contractor who wants additional project opportunities without having to generate leads, sell the project, or collect payment from the customer. What You'll Do Projects may include installation of: Roller and solar shades Cellular/honeycomb shades Wood and faux wood blinds Roman and natural shades Layered and sheer shades Motorized window treatments Drapery and hardware Shutters Exterior shades and specialty products Installers are expected to complete work accurately and professionally, test installed products, maintain a clean work area, and provide a great experience in our customers' homes. Compensation This is project-based independent contractor work , not an hourly employee position. $125 minimum project payout Additional compensation based on the number, type, size, and complexity of products installed Typical project compensation may range from $125-$500+ Specialty and complex installations are quoted separately Additional compensation may apply for high/difficult installations, specialty mounting, and extended travel Weekly payment for approved completed projects Project scope and compensation are provided before project acceptance whenever reasonably possible. What Bumble Bee Blinds Provides Customers and installation opportunities Custom window treatment products Project information and installation specifications Product-specific training when needed Coordination with the customer Opportunities for increasing project volume as our business grows What We're Looking For The ideal contractor: Has professional handyman, carpentry, installation, or similar skilled-trade experience Is comfortable accurately measuring, leveling, drilling, and mounting products Takes pride in precise, finished work Is dependable and communicates well Is professional and comfortable working inside customers' homes Has reliable transportation Has their own standard tools and appropriate ladders Is comfortable troubleshooting installation challenges Can provide appropriate independent contractor documentation and insurance Is willing to complete a background screening Experience working with drywall, wood, tile, masonry, metal, and other common mounting surfaces is a plus. Service Area Projects are primarily located throughout: Brighton, Howell, Livingston County, and surrounding Southeast Michigan communities. Additional opportunities may be available throughout our broader service territory. Schedule Project availability varies based on customer demand. This can work well for an independent tradesperson who already operates their own business or has other clients and wants to add another source of project-based work.
