Job Summary Insulators install, maintain, and replace insulation on piping, ductwork, mechanical equipment, and other systems to help control temperature, improve energy efficiency, and protect equipment. Work may involve commercial and industrial construction projects, depending on project needs. Responsibilities Measure, cut, fit, and install insulation materials on pipes, ductwork, equipment, and other mechanical systems. Secure insulation using appropriate fasteners, tape, adhesives, or other installation methods. Install protective coverings, including aluminum, sheet metal, PVC, or other jacketing materials, as required. Read and follow construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and installation instructions. Remove and replace existing insulation when required. Safely operate hand tools and power tools used for insulation installation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow company safety procedures, jobsite requirements, and applicable OSHA regulations. Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to complete work efficiently. Inspect completed work to help ensure proper installation and quality workmanship. Qualifications Previous insulation or construction experience is preferred but not required for candidates willing to learn. Ability to measure accurately and perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to use or learn to use hand tools and power tools. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a crew. Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a positive attitude. Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Willingness to learn insulation installation methods and develop trade skills. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach overhead, and work in different positions throughout the workday. Ability to lift and carry tools and insulation materials as required. Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms when properly trained and authorized. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions, depending on the project. Ability to wear required PPE and follow jobsite safety requirements.
