Job Description

Position Summary:
All Steel is seeking an experienced Structural Fitter to layout, fit, and tack structural steel components based on detailed shop drawings. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work that keeps projects on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, blueprints, and cut lists Lay out and fit beams, columns, braces, base plates, clip angles, and other steel assemblies with high accuracy Set up pieces for welding according to AWS standards Operate overhead cranes, magnetic drills, torches, grinders, and hand tools safely and effectively Verify part dimensions using tape measures, squares, levels, and other precision tools Ensure proper bolt hole alignment, bevels, and copes as specified in drawings Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and shop foremen to resolve drawing or fit-up discrepancies Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with All Steel's safety policies Assist in training apprentices or helpers as assigned
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience as a structural fitter in a steel fabrication environment preferred Proficient in reading structural and connection drawings (AISC standards familiarity a plus) Strong math and layout skills Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on feet for extended periods Comfortable operating cranes, hoists, and basic fabrication equipment High attention to detail and quality craftsmanship Reliable, punctual, and able to work overtime when needed
