General Responsibilities Read specifications and follow blueprints, sketches, and other instructions to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required. Unload and stack fabricated iron and steel so that it can be lifted with slings. Signal crane operators who lift and position structural reinforcing iron and steel. Set up hoisting equipment to safely position and unite steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks. Use shears, rod-bending machines, torches, hand tools, and welding equipment to cut, bend, and weld the structural and reinforcing iron and steel. Align structural and reinforcing iron and steel vertically and horizontally, using tag lines, plumb bobs, lasers, and levels and make corrections to erected structures as needed. Connect iron and steel with bolts, wire, or weld. Install metal decking used in building construction. Knowledge of rigging and load charts. Requirements Follow safety guidelines. Good physical condition and endurance. Must be able to lift to 75lbs. Must have a current Welding Certificate. Other duties as needed. Pre-employment, post-offer drug screen and physical required.
