Summary:
Requires measuring, scribing, trimming, fitting, assembling, and setting up of sheet, and aligning of assemblies and parts after welding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:
Fabricates and assembles sheet metal parts and finished products from work orders, blueprints, and drawings.
Performs such typical operations as drilling, trimming, filing, grinding, and assembling parts in jigs with holding fixtures involving several location points to exacting tolerances.
Straightens and aligns the assemblies before and after welding to keep parts in direct location to each other and to obtain proper contour to exacting tolerances.
Checks planning sequence of work operations and submits corrections and suggestions to the Team Lead for approval.
Determines what is acceptable in the appearance of a weld. Also, understand shrinkage problems in order to compensate for this condition.
Performs rework, repair, and other associated operations relating to the work described.
Ascertain the correct welding rod, welding location, and processes required to tack weld metal parts by following established shop practice, and verbal or written instructions.
Sets up assemblies to determine if the parts are properly fitted prior to welding.
Can perform PT or Helium as required.
Maintain a minimum output of 95%.
Maintain minimum product quality acceptance of 99%.
Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

High School Degree or General Education Degree; or 3-5 years of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply a sense of understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions. Also, ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Mathematical Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to use/understand shop math.
Other Abilities:
Must have knowledge of using gas to prevent oxidant of all heat-affected areas; must be familiar with weld rod and weld symbol charts and weld-specific actions.
Tacking Certificate, "M" Stamp, and Visual Weld Inspection Certified
Tools used:
Uses all hand tools, scales, expanders, hand shears, etc.
Materials used:
Emery cloth, clamps, cleaning solvent, welding gases, Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys in the form of sheet tubular stock, and machined and formed parts.
