Job Description

  • Job Title:
    Grinder / Shop Labor - Metal Cleaner ($20/hour-$22/hour)
  • Job Description
  • This role focuses on cleaning and finishing metal parts by using a hand grinder to smooth machined components, including large flanges and smaller assembly units.
You will support multiple departments, including fabrication, grinding, paint, and shipping, by preparing parts, moving materials, and assisting with general labor tasks as needed. This position suits someone who enjoys hands-on work in a heavy manufacturing environment and is comfortable working with hand and power tools.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Use a hand grinder to smooth and clean machined metal parts, including large flanges and smaller assembly units.
+ Perform metal cleaning and polishing to prepare parts for further fabrication, painting, or assembly. + Work closely with the fabrication department to prep parts for production and finishing processes. + Support various departments such as fabrication, grinding, paint, and shipping by assisting with daily operational needs. + Move parts and materials between departments safely and efficiently, both indoors and outdoors. + Assist with general labor tasks, including handling sheet metal and other metal components. + Support the shipping department by helping prepare and organize parts for delivery. + Provide support to other departments during slower phases of work, adapting to changing priorities and workloads. + Operate hand tools and power tools safely and follow all site safety procedures. + Maintain a clean and organized work area in both shop and yard environments. + Be available for overtime and weekend work as required to meet project and production demands.
  • Essential Skills
  • + Experience using a hand grinder to smooth and finish metal parts.
+ Hands-on experience with metal cleaning, grinding, and metal polishing. + Ability to perform general labor tasks in a heavy manufacturing environment. + Familiarity with working around sheet metal and machined metal components. + Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools in a production setting. + Willingness to support multiple departments, including fabrication, grinding, paint, and shipping. + Capability to move and handle metal parts and assemblies between departments. + Flexibility to work overtime and on weekends as needed. + Comfort working both indoors in shop areas and outdoors in varying conditions.

  • + Experience in construction, production, or similar general labor roles. + Background in heavy manufacturing or industrial environments. + Willingness to support rental operations and other business units when needed. + Ability to adapt to slower and busier phases of work while remaining productive. + Strong attention to detail when finishing and preparing metal parts.

  • Work Environment
  • This role is based at a heavy manufacturing site that includes both outdoor areas and indoor shops without air conditioning.
You will work around steel and aluminum parts used to build stages and structures for concert and event venues. The operation spans three large buildings located near each other, and you may move between them to support different departments. Expect a physically active environment that involves regular use of hand and power tools, handling metal components, and working in varying temperatures. Standard hours are approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break, with plenty of overtime and weekend work available based on production needs.

  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
