This energetic position offers the opportunity to work on diverse fabrication projects, utilizing advanced welding techniques and mechanical fabrication skills. Projects include internal support for the live event industry, such as carts, brackets, and stage decks. Projects for clients consist of decor support systems for wood and fabric and one-off pieces to meet our clients' demands. The candidate will be instrumental in ensuring precision, safety, and efficiency on the shop floor, contributing to innovative manufacturing solutions that meet industry standards. Duties Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication processes Operate various welding equipment, including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) to join metal components accurately Set up and operate machinery such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, and pipe threading tools for precise fabrication tasks Perform rigging and assembly of fabricated parts according to specifications while adhering to ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes & standards Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols related to welding, machining, and material handling, including forklift operation and gas metal arc welding procedures Inspect finished products for quality assurance using calipers, micrometers, schematics, and visual checks to ensure compliance with industry standards Requirements Proven construction site experience or metal fabrication shop experience demonstrating mechanical blueprint interpretation and fabrication skills Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW, SMAW, and welding techniques with an understanding of AWS (American Welding Society) standards Ability to read blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and interpret mechanical blueprints accurately Familiarity with shop math, including basic math calculations necessary for precise measurements and fabrication processes Experience operating power tools such as plasma cutters, press brakes, pipe threading machines, and gas metal arc welders Knowledge of rigging procedures, pipe threading, ductwork fabrication, and sheet metal fabrication processes Ability to use calipers, micrometers, schematics, and other measurement tools effectively Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of manufacturing processes related to metal fabrication within construction or industrial settings Valid certification or experience in construction site environments is preferred; familiarity with ASME codes & standards is a plus Ability to operate forklifts safely; experience with machining or soldering is advantageous We are building a state-of-the-art facility with a dedicated space for the applicant, equipped with all the tools a fabricator could want. Equipment includes Miller MIG/TIG welders, a fireball tool fixture table, exhaust systems, and all required saws, grinders, and hand tools.
