Metal Panel Installer Location:
West Des Moines, Iowa Job Description:
This role involves installing pre-engineered metal wall and roof panels on large commercial and data center projects, with a strong focus on structural steel erection and exterior panel systems. You will work primarily on the exterior of facilities using impacts, steel-erecting tools, and scissor lifts, while closely following project specifications, safety standards, and construction drawings. The position requires comfort working at heights, in active construction zones, and in varying weather conditions, as well as the ability to perform physically demanding tasks as part of a coordinated field crew. Responsibilities Install pre-engineered metal wall and roof panels according to project specifications, construction drawings, and manufacturer guidelines. Assist with the layout, alignment, and fastening of structural components to ensure accurate and secure installation. Use steel-erecting tools such as impact wrenches, torque tools, shears, snips, grinders, and panel lifting equipment safely and effectively. Operate scissor lifts, aerial lifts, ladders, and scaffolding to perform work at heights while following all safety protocols. Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and installation instructions to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Support steel erection activities, including positioning, aligning, and securing structural steel and related elements. Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and fall protection. Skills Experience erecting pre-engineered metal buildings or similar metal building systems. Experience using power tools and hand tools such as impacts, torque tools, shears, snips, and grinders. Experience working on scissor lifts or similar aerial lift equipment. OSHA 10 certification. Previous experience installing metal panels, steel structures, or comparable construction systems. Reliable transportation and consistent, dependable attendance. Why Work Here? Work Environment:
This is a full-time, onsite field position based out of a West Des Moines, IA field office, with work performed on active construction sites and data center projects. Typical work hours run Monday through Saturday from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. Work takes place outdoors year-round with exposure to variable weather conditions. You will work in active construction zones with heavy equipment, steel erection activities, and multiple trades operating simultaneously, in a fast-paced, production-driven setting where schedules are tight. Daily work involves frequent use of steel-erecting tools, impacts, torque tools, shears, grinders, and panel lifting equipment, as well as scissor lifts, aerial lifts, ladders, and scaffolding. Work areas include metal building frames, roof structures, and exterior wall systems, requiring consistent comfort with heights and open-frame structures, and a strong focus on teamwork and coordination with foremen and other trades to maintain safe, efficient operations.
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
