Custom Metal Fabricator (Stainless/Specialty) About theRole:
Specialty Stainless Steel Fabrication is looking for an experienced metal fabricator to join our custom fabrication shop. We build one-of-a-kind projects using stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and mild steel. This is not a welding-only position. We need someone who can take a project from blueprints and measurements to layout, fabrication, fit-up, and final welding . What you'll do Read and interpret blueprints, architectural plans, and shop drawings Take measurements and lay out parts accurately Cut, shear, bend, brake, roll, drill, and form sheet metal and structural materials Fabricate countertops, cabinets, range hoods, sinks, handrails, wall panels, outdoor kitchens, and other custom metalwork Fit and assemble components before welding TIG and MIG weld stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and mild steel Create, modify, and review shop drawings using CAD or other computer drawing software Work from sketches, field measurements, and customer-specific details Check finished work for accuracy, appearance, and quality Keep the shop, tools, and work area clean and organized Work independently while communicating clearly with the team What we're looking for Proven experience in custom metal fabrication Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings Strong layout and measuring skills Experience working with sheet metal and multiple types of metal Welding experience, especially TIG stainless steel and aluminum Ability to visualize how parts fit together and solve fabrication problems Basic computer skills and the ability to create or modify CAD/shop drawings Attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship Dependability, good communication, and a willingness to take ownership of projects Preferred qualifications Experience with custom architectural, commercial, restaurant, medical, or residential metalwork Experience with CAD, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar drawing software Experience operating a press brake, shear, saw, ironworker, or plasma table Ability to work from field measurements and create accurate fabrication plans About the job Every project is different. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys solving problems, building custom pieces, and seeing a project develop from a drawing into a finished product.
