Position Summary:
MAK Steel Services is seeking a skilled Handrail Fabricator to produce, assemble, and finish metal handrails, guardrails, and related metalwork to meet project specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong metalworking skills, attention to detail, and experience reading shop drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and templates for handrail systems. Measure, mark, cut, bend, shape, and form steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components using saws, brakes, rollers, and press brakes. Fit, tack, and fully weld handrail sections, posts, balusters, and brackets using MIG/TIG/arc welding as required. Grind, sand, and finish welds and surfaces to prepare for priming, painting, or plating. Assemble handrail systems for shop testing and final fit-up; prepare components for shipping or installation. Maintain accurate material takeoffs, parts lists, and basic fabrication records. Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy and quality; correct defects. Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow company safety policies and PPE requirements. Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and installers to meet schedules and client specifications. Operate forklifts or lifting equipment as needed (certification preferred).
Working Conditions:
Shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and welding fumes; PPE required. Occasional travel to job sites for fitting/installation may be required. Overtime possible to meet project deadlines.
