Job Title:
Iron Worker Job Description This role focuses on structural welding and steel erection for a large data center project. You will perform high-quality stick welding using 7018 electrodes, assist with rigging and layout, and contribute to the safe and efficient installation of structural steel components on site. Responsibilities Perform structural welding using 7018 stick welding techniques in accordance with project specifications and industry standards. Erect and install structural steel components safely and accurately on a data center construction project. Use rigging equipment to move, position, and secure steel members and materials as required. Read and interpret layout drawings and measurements to ensure precise placement and alignment of structural elements. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines on site, including those related to welding, rigging, lifting, and working at heights. Operate lifting equipment in accordance with lift certification and site protocols to move materials and components. Inspect welding work, steel erection, and rigging setups to maintain quality and structural integrity. Collaborate with site supervisors, welders, and other trades to coordinate work and meet project schedules. Maintain welding equipment, tools, and rigging gear in good working condition and report any issues promptly. Comply with OSHA standards and site-specific safety requirements throughout all phases of work. Essential Skills Minimum of 5+ years of experience as an ironworker or structural welder. Proficiency in structural welding, including 7018 stick welding. Strong experience with steel erection and rigging in a construction environment. Ability to perform accurate layout work, including reading and applying measurements and drawings. Current D1.1 welding certification. OSHA10 certification. Lift certification and ability to safely operate lifting equipment. Solid understanding of construction site safety practices and OSHA regulations. Ability to work safely and efficiently on large-scale industrial or data center projects. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA30 certification preferred. Experience working on data center or similar large industrial construction projects. Ability to work early morning shifts and extended hours as needed. Work Environment Work takes place on a data center construction site in Mesa, AZ, near S Sossaman Road and E Elliot Road. The schedule consists of six 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Saturday, with start times between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The environment is an active outdoor and partially indoor construction site, involving structural steel erection, rigging, and welding activities. You will use welding equipment, rigging gear, and lifting machinery in accordance with safety and certification requirements. Standard construction site attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
