Job Title:
MIG Welder Job Description This role focuses on performing basic MIG welds on metal doors made primarily from 16-18 gauge mild steel. You will use blueprints, tape measurements, and standard hand and power tools to complete precise welds in a clean, well-ventilated production environment during a daytime shift. Responsibilities Perform basic MIG welding on metal doors, working primarily with 16-18 gauge mild steel. Interpret and follow simple blueprints and welding symbols to complete welds accurately. Use a tape measure to take precise measurements and verify dimensions before and after welding. Operate hand tools and power tools, including grinders, to prepare, weld, and finish metal components. Carry out grinding and metal finishing to ensure clean, smooth welds and high-quality finished products. Follow fabrication instructions to assemble and weld parts according to specifications. Inspect welds and finished parts for quality, accuracy, and adherence to standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area, supporting a surprisingly clean weld shop environment. Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while operating welding and fabrication equipment. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and timelines. Essential Skills Experience with MIG welding, particularly on mild steel materials. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. Basic blueprint reading skills, including understanding simple weld symbols. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with metal components. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a fabrication or welding environment. Ability to perform grinding and metal finishing to achieve clean welds. Capability to follow written and verbal instructions in a production setting. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with MIG welding on mild stainless steel is a plus. Background in metal fabrication or related mechanical work. Ability to quickly learn and understand company-specific welding symbols and prints. Willingness to grow into other roles such as installation, customer service, or sales over time. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a full-time, first-shift position with typical hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You work in a weld shop that is surprisingly clean for this type of environment, largely due to the nature of MIG welding performed. The facility features strong air filtration, open garage doors, and fans to support ventilation and comfort. Most of your work involves basic MIG welds on doors made from 16-18 gauge mild steel, using hand tools, power tools, grinders, and standard welding equipment. The environment supports focused, hands-on work in a production setting with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and consistent attendance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
