Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and energetic
WELDER/TORCH CUTTER
to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precise welding and torch cutting operations on various metal materials, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. Your expertise in interpreting technical drawings, measuring instruments, and fabrication techniques will be crucial in delivering top-notch metal components for diverse construction and manufacturing projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex assemblies, utilize advanced welding techniques, and contribute to high-quality metal fabrication processes. Duties Perform welding operations using various methods including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes. Execute torch cutting tasks with precision, utilizing plasma cutters and gas torches to shape metal materials as specified in technical drawings. Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding and cutting requirements. Measure and mark metal components accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math skills to ensure proper fit-up and assembly. Use hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, and soldering techniques to prepare materials for welding or assembly. Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling welding equipment, gas cylinders, power tools, and fabrication machinery to maintain a safe work environment. Collaborate with team members on assembly processes involving ductwork, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical fabrication, and metal materials to meet project specifications. Experience Proven construction site experience working with metal fabrication or welding projects. Hands-on experience with various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding. Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and mechanical blueprints for fabrication purposes. Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to welding and metal fabrication practices. Experience working with sheet metal, ductwork, machining tools, measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers. Ability to read shop math accurately for measurements and calculations involved in fabrication tasks. Prior work in a fabrication shop environment or on construction sites involving mechanical or metal assembly is highly desirable.
