Associated Building Specialties, 30 Frankford Avenue, Blackwood, NJ Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and skilled Hollow Metal Fabricator / Shop Worker to join our team. This position focuses on the fabrication, welding, preparation, and handling of hollow metal doors and frames in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with welding, frame reinforcement, measuring, fabrication and general shop work. Preferred experience with forklift operation, plan reading, and general installation Responsibilities Face weld and back weld hollow metal frames and related components. Reinforce frames for door preparations and hardware openings. Grind welded or cut metal surfaces to smooth rough edges, finish parts for installation or sale to customers. Cut metal materials accurately to the required size and shape using shop tools and power equipment. Fabricate and assemble metal doors, frames, lite kits and related components according to job specifications. Work with wood doors by drilling bore holes and cutting doors to size as needed. Pull frame, door and accessory orders accurately according to work orders and shop schedules. Measure materials, frames, and doors accurately. Read and interpret plans and shop drawings, preferred. Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently. Operate a forklift safely; forklift experience preferred. Assist with installation of doors and frames when needed; installation experience preferred. Assist with plant and general office maintenance as needed. Perform regular shop cleanup, organization, and routine upkeep. Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, orderly work environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience in hollow metal fabrication, welding, or shop work required. Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision. Ability to measure accurately and follow shop work orders. Forklift experience preferred. Ability to read plans and shop drawings or willingness to learn is desired. Door and frame installation experience is a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Reliable, safety-minded, and willing to take on a variety of responsibilities. Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move materials throughout the workday. Ability to load and unload materials and operate shop equipment safely. Must be able to work in a warehouse/shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature changes.
