Job Description Rhoads Metal Works, Inc. is a fourth-generation company founded in 1896 servicing the Delaware Valley Tri-State area for over 128 years. We are a leading industrial and institutional mechanical maintenance contractor with a large fleet of field service crews, and a fully equipped custom fabrication shop located in Pennsauken, NJ. Role Overview We are currently looking to hire a full-time
MULTI-PROCESS SHOP WELDER
towork out of our Pennsauken, NJ fabrication shop.

The Shop Welder is responsible for accurately completing assigned jobs including fabricating, fitting, and welding miscellaneous metal and sheet metal components. These jobs typically include railings, platform/stair assemblies, ladders, structural columns and beams, sheet metal components and pipe fitting/welding. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in all typical welding processes, read shop drawings, and layout for assembly. Responsibilities Layout, fit up and weld metal components based on shop drawings and sketches provided.
Welding processes including:
FCAW GMAW GTAW SMAW
Material thicknesses may vary from 18-gauage sheet metal to 1"+ plate Utilize fabrication equipment such as band saws, pipe benders, oxy/acetylene torch, plasma cutter, mag drill, and hydraulic punch (ironworker). Operate forklift and overhead jib crane to move materials, weldments, and equipment as needed. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations. Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy. Grind, sand, blend welds when required. Qualifications Minimum 5 years' welding experience required . Internal weld tests will be required prior to hire. Certificate, Degree or Vo-Tech schooling preferred. Ability to read and understand shop drawings and weld symbols required . General understanding of
AWS D1.1
specifications required . Strong knowledge of mechanical principles and techniques such as general layout of beams and columns, as well as stairs and railing Pipe fitting and welding experience preferred. Rigging knowledge and abilities preferred. Press brake, shear and pinch roller knowledge preferred. Sanitary/process pipe welding with back purge experience preferred. Experience with sheet metal ductwork and ventilation systems preferred. Ability to accurately read tape measures and other measuring devices. Excellent time management abilities. Ability to work well within a team setting as well as work independently. Ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. Analytical problem solver. Current US Driver's License and clean driving record. Pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Comfortable with a professional, polished appearance. Physical Requirements Ability to complete strenuous physical tasks and lift over 40lbs regularly. Ability to lift, bend, twist, walk, and reach frequently. Ability to work with and wear proper PPE for fabricating and welding tasks being performed. Typical Shop Hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm Overtime available depending on workload
