We have been retained by a Cleveland-based equipment manufacturer to assist in their search for a qualified Steel Fitter / Welder / Fabricator professional for long term employment. This position requires someone with exceptional attention to detail and a good understanding of the entire steel fabrication process. Experience to include a working knowledge of saw cutting, plasma tables, iron workers, press brakes, robotics, fitting, drilling, welding and assembly. Client seeks a fabrication professional who enjoys the challenge of fitting large, complex fabrications and working with an experienced team on your own with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Confirm all dimensional aspects of supplied component parts.

IE:

hole diameters, hole placement, material thickness, material types etc.. With the aid of engineered drawings, fitting of steel members/components together within the tolerances required. Once all dimensional aspects are confirmed, tack or stitch weld assemblies together. In some cases, holes, slots, tapping may be required. Once the fitted assembly has been dimensional approved, these assemblies will be fully welded by the welding department. Education/Experience 5-10 years of fitting / fabrication and welding experience. Able to fit weldments from complex fabrication drawings and sketches. Comfortable with rigging and overhead cranes. Should have your own steel fabrication hand-tools. A machining background is a plus. Understands the importance of safety and quality; and practiced daily. May be expected to help saw, shear, brake, grind etc. when needed.
