This heavy-industrial position minimizes operational downtime by ensuring that high-wear machinery can continuously process and sort tons of scrap metal daily
Key Responsibilities Welding & FabricationHeavy Industrial Welding:
Perform heavy-duty Stick (SMAW) and Flux-Cored (FCAW) welding on structural steel, hoppers, chutes, and shredder housings.
Hardfacing Application:
Apply wear-resistant welding layers (hardfacing) to equipment surfaces exposed to extreme metal-on-metal abrasion.
Component Replacement:
Cut, torch, and weld replacement liners, shredder grates, and structural supports.
Conveyor & Sorting System Maintenance Belt Mastery:
Install, tension, track, and mechanically or chemically splice heavy-duty rubber conveyor belts.
Component Repair:
Replace worn rollers, idlers, pulleys, drive sprockets, and heavy bearings.
System Calibration:
Maintain alignment on downstream sorting equipment, including magnetic and eddy-current separation lines .
Preventative Maintenance & Troubleshooting Routine Inspections:
Conduct daily checks of "high-wear" zones to identify structural stress fractures before catastrophic failure occurs.
Mechanical Overhauls:
Troubleshoot and rebuild gearboxes, fluid couplings, drive motors, and hydraulic systems.
Lubrication Management:
Grease moving parts and monitor automatic lubrication systems tied to the main shredder bearings.
