- a 1st Flagship Company , we are currently looking for a Mechanic I at our Philadelphia site.
What You'll Be Doing:
Must be skillful in the operation of machines and hand tools necessary to perform repairs in an efficient and economical manner. Shall be knowledgeable in machine and mechanical principles and be able to locate sources of defective operation or cause of breakdown. Shall be able to use all hand tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc. Must have a good knowledge of blueprints and manufacturers' specifications, to be able to disassemble and repair tools and equipment. Shall be able to instruct Machinist/Mechanic Helper when assigned. Must qualify to wear a respirator. May be required to travel up to 25% to conduct company business. Must know all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to environmental protection. Assist in the receipt, moor and departure of vessels. Adhere to all corporate core values, policies and procedures in the execution of all responsibilities. Must be able to work effectively with co-workers in a professional manner at all times. Must be available to work overtime if required. May be exposed to sharp edges, fall hazards, hazardous chemicals and conditions, poor illumination and inclement weather. Shall handle weights to 100 pounds with an average of 50 pounds and carry up to a distance of 200 feet. What You'll Need toSucceed:
Minimum:
High School Diploma or GED Five (5) years of relevant shipboard machinist mechanic experience or equivalent military experience. Valid driver's license and qualification to operate government/company vehicles per the Corporate Fleet Vehicle Safety Manual.Preferred:
Four (4) years of experience serving in a Navy Engineering rating or Armed Forces Diesel Engine Repair Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).What You'll Gain:
