Structural Iron & Steel Worker

Overview Gillmann Services, Inc seeking a skilled Structural Steel Fabricator/Welder to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in structural steel and sheet metal fabrication, with the ability to work in various environments such as elevated work sites and construction zones. This role requires physical endurance, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety standards. As a Structural Steel Fabricator, you will play a crucial role in building and assembling metal structures that support commercial buildings, bridges, highways, and other public works projects. Duties

• Interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to determine the materials and quantities required for a project.
• Weld and cut steel using various techniques, ensuring all metal components meet project specifications.
• Assemble, bolt, and secure structural metal elements like beams, columns, and girders for construction projects.
• Operate cranes and other machinery to transport and position heavy metal pieces on site.
• Ensure proper alignment and balance of structural elements using levels, laser tools, and plumb bobs.
• Fabricate steel or iron components and weld reinforcing bars into concrete forms.
• Adhere to OSHA regulations and safety guidelines while working at elevated heights or in challenging positions.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to high-quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote workplace safety. Experience
• Proven experience in structural steel fabrication or welding is preferred.
• Completion of an apprenticeship or relevant training in the field is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of welding techniques, including stick welding and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW).
• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction plans.
• Previous experience working with heavy machinery such as cranes, forklifts, and metal fabrication equipment.
• Familiarity with safety practices in construction and fabrication environments.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate effectively with others.
