Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CWI to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of fabricated steel components through visual inspection and measurement. You will work closely with production teams to verify layouts, welds, and steel fabrication processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural steel inspection, a keen eye for detail, and a strong understanding of welding and fabrication practices.
Skills & Qualifications:
MUST HAVE 1-3
years of experience in the structural steel fabrication industry, particularly in inspecting fabricated weldments. Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings, including dimensions, views, and welding symbols. Skilled in verifying the layout of steel components. Knowledge of carbon and stainless steels. Experience with code-related visual acceptance criteria (e.g., AWS D1.1). Familiarity with various welding processes such as GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-S. Proficient in reading a tape measure to the nearest 1/16th inch. Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality.
Responsibilities:
Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures. Inspect layouts, positioning, alignment, and fit of steel parts per drawings. Visually inspect fit-ups and welds to ensure accuracy and compliance. Interpret and apply drawing layouts, views, dimensions, and welding symbols. Measure fabricated weldments and parts to verify they meet drawings and specifications using measuring tools. Monitor the correct use of welding wire, gas, and procedures. Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and inspection procedures. Maintain detailed inspection reports, documenting findings and any non-conforming products. Contribute to team efforts by performing additional related tasks in a cooperative and professional manner. Work well within a team environment and assist with production as needed.
