Beam and Pipe Fit test ( I Beams and coping ) Mon - Fri 12 hours a day + 8-12 hours on saturdays Key Responsibilities Read and interpret fabrication drawings and shop work orders with full accuracy. Layout, position, fit, and secure parts/assemblies using tape measure, square, calipers, etc. Create cut lists and prep materials correctly. Safely operate welding/cutting equipment (cutting torch, track torch, magnetic drill). Tack weld using multiple processes; follow company welding procedures. Mark/label parts with heat numbers, part numbers for traceability. Receive, verify, store, and move materials (using hoist, forklift, or manual lifting). Provide ETA updates to foreman/supervisor for welded/prepped items. Remove sharp edges/burrs; transfer finished parts to other departments. Keep work area safe, clean, and organized. Follow all safety rules, wear required PPE, and promote safe behavior. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Abilities Proficient with: tape measure, squares, hand tools, gouging tools.
Skilled with:
cutting torch (hand cutting), magnetic drill (hole drilling), track torch (beveling). Safe operation of crane, hoist, and forklift. Read/understand weld symbols, sizes, notes, grades, fractions, and decimals. Perform complex weldment assemblies; assemble/disassemble components. Qualified 1F or 1G welder per AWS standards. Stay productive while strictly following safety guidelines. Physical Requirements Lift/carry 50 lbs independently while walking on uneven surfaces. Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl. Frequent use of hand/power tools (including heavy-duty ones). Clear vision (near/far) and good hearing to monitor work and detect issues. Maintain spatial awareness in busy shop/yard with moving equipment. Wear PPE at all times. Minimum Qualifications 1F or 1G weld certified. 5+ years relevant experience. Hiring Tests & Requirements Pass written fitter proficiency test. Pass physical fitting test (beam and pipe). Pass physical test from verbal instructions only.
Pay:
$27.00 - $31.00 per hour
