JOB SUMMARY
Performs tasks involving physical labor, assembles metal products on shop floor, and operate a variety of hand and power tools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assemble structures with bolts using the correct procedure. Removes small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to product close fit between parts. Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. Operate the crane to move material. Operate grinders and other power tools to prep material for welding. Touch up galvanizing defects and sharp edges. Drill holes in products per specifications. Sweep areas to keep the shop clean. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and control standards. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers. Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment. Ability to perform simple arithmetic. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work involves moderate to heavy exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Moderate to heavy physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds. Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require strict understanding and adherence to safety precautions.
