OLD DOMINION REPAIR, LLC.
, is seeking a skilled Ship Fitter to join our team to work in the shipyards. Responsible for the assembly, fabrication, and maintenance of ship structures and components. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, experience with various tools and measurement instruments, and a solid understanding of schematics and technical drawings. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex projects in a dynamic environment, contributing to the construction and repair of maritime vessels. All applicants must be capable of heavy lifting and precision work to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
Duties:
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand project specifications
  • Measure and cut metal components using calipers and other tools
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures using various techniques such as stick welding and plasma cutting
  • Perform welding tasks including MIG, TIG, and stick welding
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure products meet standards
  • Work on various projects including construction site installations, ductwork, and mechanical components
  • Utilize mechanical knowledge to operate machinery like press brake machines
Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Welder/Fitter or similar role
  • Proficiency in stick welding, plasma cutting, and other fabrication techniques
  • Familiarity with ductwork fabrication and installation
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately
  • Strong mechanical knowledge to operate machinery effectively
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
Skills:
  • Experience in construction site welding projects
  • Proficiency in using calipers for precise measurements
  • Knowledge of machining processes for metal fabrication
  • Ability to fabricate metal components accurately
  • Proficient in stick welding techniques
  • Experience with plasma cutting tools
  • Familiarity with ductwork fabrication methods
