If you're a skilled ironworker looking for steady work, competitive union wages, excellent benefits, and opportunities for overtime , we want to hear from you. What You'll Be Doing We're looking for professionals with experience in: Structural steel erection Welding (Stick and FCAW preferred) Rigging and crane signaling Commercial, industrial, bridge, and shipyard-related construction Most projects are local, allowing members to be home most nights , while still offering consistent overtime opportunities to maximize earnings. Why Join Iron Workers Local 28?Competitive Compensation Union wages with scheduled increases Frequent overtime opportunities Steady work with reputable contractors Outstanding Benefits Package Contractor-paid benefits include: Health insurance Dental coverage Vision insurance Life insurance Pension and retirement benefits Career Growth & Training Ongoing skills training through IMPACT Journeyman upgrade opportunities Strong union representation Long-term career stability and job security Key Responsibilities Erect, connect, bolt-up, and weld structural steel Install decking, bar joists, stairs, railings, and other structural components Perform rigging, hoisting, and crane signaling operations Read and interpret blueprints and structural drawings Complete layout work, fabrication, cutting, grinding, and hot work Follow OSHA regulations and all site-specific safety requirements Work safely at heights and in industrial, commercial, and shipyard environments QualificationsRequired Minimum of 4 years of Ironworker experience Experience with structural steel erection, welding, and rigging Ability to pass a drug screening Strong blueprint reading and layout skills Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to safety Preferred Current welding certifications Experience in industrial, bridge, or shipyard environments Tools Required Applicants must provide their own tools, including but not limited to: Spud wrenches Sleever bar Bullpins Tape measure Welding hood Some projects may also require successful completion of a background check.
