About Universal Metrics, LLC (UMI) At UMI, we're focused on all of our stakeholders—customers (Fortune 500 companies), suppliers, business partners, and yes…employees. Our production environment is temperature-controlled year-round. The majority of employee work schedules at UMI, both office and production/warehouse, consist of four 10-hour days, Monday-Thursday, with optional three-day weekends or Friday overtime. When Wisconsin weather turns nice, the management team grills burgers for lunch for all employees each month. Ninety days without a Lost Time Injury results in free pizza for everyone in the company, and we also provide Thanksgiving and Christmas lunches for all employees. What You'll Be Doing:
Crafting the
Future:
Bring designs to life by expertly fabricating and assembling metal components based on detailed specifications and blueprints. Mastering the
Arc:
Skillfully operate a range of welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and stick welders, laying down flawless beads.
Precision Cutting:
Utilize plasma cutting and soldering techniques with finesse to shape and join materials with accuracy.
Hands-On Expertise:
Employ a variety of hand tools and power tools to meticulously cut, shape, and assemble components. Moving Mountains (Safely): Rig materials for lifting using cranes or forklifts, ensuring safe and efficient material handling (when applicable).
Quality Champion:
Conduct thorough quality checks on your work, guaranteeing that every piece meets our rigorous standards.
Safety First, Always:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols like a pro.
Team Triumph:
Collaborate seamlessly with fellow team members to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. What You'll Bring to the

Proven Track Record:
Solid experience as a Fitter or in a similar role within a demanding manufacturing setting.
Blueprint Whisperer:
Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and translate schematics, blueprints, and intricate technical drawings into tangible structures.
Mechanical Mind:
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment-related issues.
Welding Wizardry:
Deep familiarity and proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick) and advanced plasma cutting methods.
Toolbox Titan:
Proven experience utilizing a wide array of hand tools, power tools, and ideally, rigging equipment, cranes, and forklifts.
