Whether it's a long-haul fleet delivering essential goods or an independent owner-operator trying to make it home, our skilled technicians keep them moving. We are seeking a Heavy-Duty Fabrication & Installation Technician to join our team in Tomahawk, WI. This role focuses on upfitting, assembling, and customizing light and heavy-duty trucks to our customers' specifications. Key Responsibilities:
Build and customize heavy and light-duty vehicles using a variety of parts per customer specifications. Install and repair truck bodies, dump bodies, loaders, and lift axles. Wire electrical components for various vehicle applications. Perform hydraulic system plumbing, including routing hoses and installing hydraulic components. Read and understand repair orders, ensuring accurate documentation and time allocation. Operate shop equipment, including welders, plasma cutters, and hand tools. Ensure a safe working environment and follow all safety protocols. Maintain an organized work area and ensure timely turnaround for vehicle repairs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Mechanical experience with light and heavy-duty vehicles. Ability to weld and fabricate metal components. Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems for truck equipment. Strong math skills and ability to read and interpret schematics. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Self-sufficient and self-driven with a strong attendance record. Ability to work from repair orders and follow instructions. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to use carts, forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand and power tools. Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day.
Education & Work Experience:
Experience in truck upfitting, fabrication, welding, or heavy equipment installation preferred. Previous experience in vehicle customization or body-building is also a plus. Valid driver's license required. CDL not required but preferred; willingness to obtain a CDL is a plus.
