Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and creative Landscape Design Intern to join our dynamic team. This paid internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in landscape architecture, urban planning, and sustainable design. As a key contributor, you will assist in developing innovative landscape solutions, creating detailed drawings, and supporting project development from concept through construction documentation. This role is perfect for aspiring landscape architects or design students eager to build their portfolio and expand their technical skills in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities Assist in the creation of conceptual and detailed landscape design drawings using software such as SketchUp, AutoCAD, Rhino (Rhinoceros 3D), Civil 3D, Revit, and MicroStation. Support the development of construction documentation, including hardscape details, planting plans, irrigation layouts, and grading plans. Prepare visual presentations and renderings using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, and other graphic design software to communicate design ideas effectively. Conduct site visits for land surveying, landscape maintenance assessments, and construction observation to ensure project accuracy and quality control. Collaborate with project managers and clients to refine designs, incorporate feedback, and develop sustainable landscape solutions aligned with environmental best practices. Assist with research on horticulture, native plant selections, irrigation systems, and sustainable design strategies to enhance project outcomes. Contribute to project management tasks such as scheduling, estimating construction costs, and preparing reports or documentation for client presentations. Qualifications Currently enrolled or graduated with a bachelor's degree program in landscape architecture, civil engineering, urban planning or related field. Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD; familiarity with SketchUp, Rhinoceros 3D (Rhino), Civil 3D, Revit or MicroStation is highly desirable. Experience with GIS platforms such as ArcView or ArcGIS for spatial analysis and land use planning. Strong skills in graphic design software like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite for rendering and presentation purposes. Knowledge of horticulture principles, landscaping techniques, hardscape features, irrigation systems, and sustainable design practices. Ability to produce hand-drawn sketches or illustrations as part of the conceptual process. Excellent communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration. Construction experience or familiarity with construction documentation processes is a plus.
