NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an "at-will" relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

An "Enrollee" is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An "Enrollee" is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. This opportunity applies to applicants legally eligible to work in the United States. Duration This position is funded for up to 520 total hours. Position is open until filled or cancelled.
Duties:
To provide technical planning and design assistance for Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program projects with primary focus on projects in Hawai'i and Alaska. This position will work remotely from either Hawaii or Alaska. Travel will be required for site visits and workshops tied to specific projects. The enrollee is a project team member providing technical planning and/or landscape design assistance and coordination on cooperative conservation and outdoor recreation planning projects working with government agencies, non-profit organizations, tribes, Native Hawaiian Organizations, Alaska Native Corporations, and community groups. This may include but not limited to: conceptual trail planning, park planning/design, natural resource conservation planning, site design, and outdoor recreation. 50% The enrollee will assist in organizing and conducting planning/design workshops and events and facilitate meetings both in-person and virtually for audiences with a wide range of subject knowledge and experience. This will include developing and implementing methods for substantively involving the interested public in the planning process, with diverse engagement of community interests. 30% This position will be responsible for preparing written and graphic materials and designs to communicate with public and professional audiences and may include writing, mapping, and graphics. The enrollee will communicate frequently with representatives of public agencies and non-profit organizations in the community and at local, state and national forums. 20%
Qualifications:
Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in landscape architecture and/or community planning, project management and public engagement.
OR BA/BS
Degree in Landscape Architecture, Community Planning with minimum additional experience of 15 year(s) in BA/BS with 15 years of experience in: Landscape architecture, Community planning Knowledge of outdoor recreation or community planning, natural resource planning and management, and landscape architecture with experience at facilitation, partnership development, community outreach and engagement, project planning and management. Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat
