Full Job Description Description:
Position Summary The Director - Landscape Architecture (LA) leads the team for this practice area, focused on attracting, developing, and retaining top design talent to grow a high-performing team. With a proven track record of winning work, the Director is responsible for delivering consistent business development results, while nurturing a culture of project delivery excellence, consistently resulting in on-time and within-budget projects. The Director is the lead Seller-Doer for this team, developing strong working relationships with agencies, municipalities, other consulting firms, as well as internal Shrewsberry leaders. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing the growth strategy for the LA department in collaboration with the Firm's executive leadership team. The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Market LA services to current and new clients; grow backlog of work for the practice area. Lead client manager for targeted key clients; develop and implement successful business development strategies for this business unit. Work with technical staff and marketing to develop winning proposals, including innovative technical approaches and client interview presentations. Skilled in developing the scopes, schedules, and budgets (e.g., work-breakdown structures, man-hour justifications, etc.) for projects/pursuits, and able to clearly articulate constraints and tradeoffs to clients as well as to members of the project team(s) executing the work. Responsible for all phases of planning and design, in addition to the management of design services during construction. Accountable for the department's overall performance and day-to-day operations, focused on meeting or exceeding performance goals. Cultivate a strong QA/QC culture for the practice area. Consistently deliver projects on time, within budget, and according to the client's project scope. Foster a positive collaborative environment between practice areas and offices; promote Shrewsberry culture. Utilize ERP software for successful project management, timely invoicing of clients, and accurate/timely reporting of expenses and time. Serve as senior project manager and/or project subject matter expert on specific tasks/projects. Identify schedule and cost variances, then develop and implement recommendations for corrective action.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's in landscape architecture from an accredited college or university. 10+ years of landscape architecture experience. Proven track record of successful business development and marketing results, including client targeting, writing winning proposals, developing scopes of work, and creating budgets (fee estimates) for proposed work. Extensive experience providing successful project management and consulting services in Landscape Architecture. Landscape Architect Registration in Indiana; additional states may be required. LEED Certification preferred. Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to produce well written technical reports and regulatory compliance documents. We're an equal opportunity employer.
