Job Description

Job Description Job Description Job Description Come design places people actually use! At WDA Design Group, landscape architecture isn't something that happens in isolation. Our designers work alongside civil engineers, surveyors, and planners to take projects from the first ideas on paper through permitting, construction documents, and, ultimately, up and out of the ground. We're a multidisciplinary design firm in Westborough, Massachusetts, providing landscape architecture, civil engineering, surveying and construction administration services throughout New England since 1997. Our work is varied by design - parks and recreation, educational and institutional campuses, mixed-use and residential communities, commercial properties and other projects that shape how people experience a place. We're looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative, and detail-oriented Landscape Architect/Designer with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience who brings creativity to the work and has a strong interest in learning the technical side of a landscape architectural practice. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than work on one small piece of a project. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and gain experience across the full life of a project - from feasibility and schematic design through design development, permitting, construction documentation and construction administration.
What You'll Do:
  • Collaborate with landscape architects, civil engineers, surveyors and other members of our project teams.
  • Help develop site designs from early feasibility studies and concepts through permitting and construction documentation.
  • Prepare plans using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Land F/X.
  • Develop layout, grading, planting and construction details through successive phases of design.
  • Help create presentations and other project materials using Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Participate in occasional project-site visits and see how drawings and details translate into built work.
  • Learn.
Ask questions. Contribute ideas. Take on greater responsibility as your experience grows.
What We're Looking For:
  • A professional degree in landscape architecture.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience with a landscape architecture or civil engineering firm.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Land F/X and their application to site design and construction-document production.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with site layout, grading, planting design, materials and construction detailing - and, equally important, an eagerness to keep learning.
  • Strong teamwork and organizational skills, reliability and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
Candidates requiring work authorization must possess a U.S. work visa valid for at least three years following the anticipated date of hire. We do not provide work sponsorship.
Even Better:
We'd also love to see:
  • Experience with SketchUp, Lumion, Rhino or other visualization and presentation software.
  • Strong graphic, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with New England plant communities and ornamental plants used in landscape design.
Why WDA? Because early in your career, what you get to work on - and who you get to learn from - matters. We're a collaborative, multidisciplinary firm where landscape architecture, civil engineering and surveying work together rather than in separate silos. You'll have the opportunity to understand how sites really come together, contribute to a wide variety of projects and see your work progress from an idea on the screen to something you can walk through. And because we're a smaller firm, you won't disappear into the crowd. Good ideas are welcome here, wherever they come from. Interested? Apply today and don't miss out on a a great opportunity!
